Australia has always been a favorite destination of ours; in fact, the land Down Under is one of the most tourist-friendly countries according to a 2019 report by the World Economic Forum.

Apart from being a hot spot for vacation, the country??s laid-back lifestyle motivates many Singaporeans to study, work and eventually migrate there for good. However, there??s so much more to Australia than Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.

Meet Adelaide - the capital of South Australia, famous for their rich history, culture and breathtaking scenery. Unlike the states we??re familiar with, Adelaide is definitely on the quieter side, but doesn??t fall short of fun things to do! Read on to venture beyond Rundle Mall and Glenelg Beach.

Spend a night in a bubble (tent)

Rent a car and head over to Coonawarra, where wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, to be specific) and Bubble Tents steal the show. Perfect for a romantic getaway, Coonawarra is the only place in South Australia to access these unique tents. They are furnished with a King size bed, a fridge and a single bed, complete with curtains for privacy.

Make the night an unforgettable one and take stargazing to the next level with the 360-degree view of the night sky, from the comfort of your cosy bed. You may be far from home like Peter Parker but staying connected is not an issue with the free Wi-Fi service provided! What??s more, these special tents are capable of keeping pesky insects at bay for uninterrupted rest.

Experience wildlife at an open-range park

Get in touch with your wild side at the world??s largest open-range park located in Monarto, 70 kilometres from Adelaide??s CBD. Be prepared to meet more than 500 animals, as well as 50 exotic species such as the Tasmanian Devil, Scimitar-horned Oryx, Black Rhinoceros and African Painted Dogs which run a risk of extinction.

If you??ve always wanted to get up close and personal with the King of the Animals, you best muster up your courage for the 360 degree lion experience - a highlight of the Monarto Safari Park. If you??d like a little more adrenaline rush, there??s an option to feed them (with a pair of tongs, of course). With lions above and beside you in this enclosure, this experience is not for the faint-hearted.

Other fun activities offered include being a zookeeper for a morning, as well as coming into contact with meerkats, giraffes, chimpanzees and tasmanian devils to name a few.

Pick fresh strawberries

Strawberries in Singapore come with a high price tag, which may not necessarily be representative of their taste. You??re in luck if you can relate, because strawberry picking is a thing in Australia! I??ve tried my hand at it a couple of years back, and if you??re on the fence, I??m telling you to go for it - gain a new experience (and a bag of sweet strawberries).

With a 4.6 star rating on Google, it??s no surprise that a trip to Beerenberg Farm should be on your itinerary right here, right now. Aside from producing a variety of jams and sauces locally, the farm which opened its doors to visitors in 1971 offers walking tours and of course, strawberry picking.

They are open daily between 9am to 5pm so you can easily plan your visit, but note that the best time to pick strawberries is between late October to April! Check out their website for more details.

Cuddle a fur friend

Have a soft spot for all things furry and cute? You??re bound to love the next location - Softfoot Alpaca Farm!

Located in Hindmarsh Valley, an hour journey away from the heart of Adelaide is where you??ll find cuddly alpacas in different sizes and colors - a mix of browns to white and black. Visitors can choose between 4 guided Alpaca Tours which vary in duration and the option of travelling in a Tractor Trailer.

If you??re one of the rare ones who can bear to leave the alpacas, you may move on to exploring the countryside on the 4x4 All Terrain buggies on-site, as well as looking out for native wildlife - Kangaroos and Koalas. Keep your eyes peeled - you may spot the endangered marsupials!

More details on the Alpaca Farm can be found here.

Witness a spectacular sunset

Located in the middle of suburbs of West Beach and Grange is Henley Beach. After travelling around, sinking your tired legs into warm sand is always a good idea.

There??s no better way to unwind than to witness a perfect sunset with the sound of crashing waves in the background. Content with Vitamin-sea and not C? Fret not, the beach has plenty of shade!

If you haven??t had your share of fresh seafood at this point, the beach is lined with seafood restaurants, and a plethora of eateries selling fish and chips, ice cream and drinks. Like Glenelg Beach, many people visit Henley Beach to fish, people watch and bond with their families.
