??Milk formulas are only for the young and old.? I??ve always had this mentality until I stumbled upon a treasure trove of recipes incorporating milk formulas online. If the fear of powdery aftertaste is holding you back from purchasing such products, here are 5 simple ways to enjoy them. Buckle up, because you??re in for a treat.

Hot chocolate

A must-have when travelling in cold countries, hot chocolate is, in my opinion, a great substitute for people who don??t take coffee. Yes, we exist.

To make your very own hot chocolate, you??ll need these ingredients:

  • 2.73 cups of chocolate milk powder
  • 4 cups of milk formula
  • 2 cups of instant coffee creamer
  • 1 cup of powdered sugar (add a little more if you have a sweet tooth)
  • Marshmallows (optional)

Once you??ve got your ingredients, mix all of them in a big bowl before pouring everything into an air-tight jar for storage if you don??t intend to drink it immediately. Otherwise, fill a mug with hot water or milk heated in the microwave. Next, add *3-5 tablespoons of your hot chocolate mixture into the mug (depending on your desired level of creaminess) and stir well. Top it off with some marshmallows for a finishing touch, and now, you??ve got yourself a cup of hot chocolate.

Chocolate pudding

Unsure of what to do with the huge tin of milk formula you bought? Homemade chocolate pudding, a crowd-favorite, is here to save the day.

According to this recipe, you??re only 2 ingredients away from getting your money??s worth: Milk formula (which you probably have an abundance of) and pudding mix.

To get started, make 2 cups of reconstituted milk by combining equal amounts of milk powder and water. Next, add 1/2 cup of pudding mix to the reconstituted milk. Whisk the entire mixture in a pan over medium heat till it boils. Whisk well to avoid lumps in your pudding.

Tip: Don??t stop whisking your mixture to avoid burning it at the bottom of the pan.

Continue whisking as you remove the pan from the heat, until it thickens. Finally, transfer the mixture to a bowl and pop it in the refrigerator for an hour, and voilà, you??re done! To make it more appetizing, decorate your pudding with cut fruits or nuts.

Sour cream

Whether you??re prepping snacks for a movie marathon or cooking baked potatoes for dinner, here??s an easy recipe to get your sour cream ready.

To make 1 cup of sour cream, you??ll require ?? cup of milk powder, ¾ cup of water and 1 teaspoon of vinegar.

Pour the water and milk into a bowl, and mix well. As you??re doing this, add the vinegar in small batches periodically and continue mixing until it is smooth. Once it??s well mixed, pop the mixture into the refrigerator to let it thicken. The longer you leave it refrigerated, the thicker it??ll get.

Coffee creamer

If you??re pretty much dependent on caffeine, here??s how to save yourself some money on coffee creamer.

What you??ll need:

  • 2/3 cup whole milk powder (Non-fat milk powder can be used too, but the coffee will be more watery)
  • 3 tablespoons confectioner's sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon virgin coconut oil, melted

For the perfect coffee creamer, here??s what you??re going to do:

First, use a strainer to get rid of any lumps in the milk powder, confectioner's sugar, and cocoa powder. Next, add the coconut oil to the mixture, and whisk until everything is smooth. Lastly, store the creamer blend in an airtight container in a cool and dry location in preparation for your morning cuppa.

Instant oatmeal mix

Want something quick and nutritious? Lucky for you, this recipe ticks all the right boxes.

Ingredients you??ll need:

  • 5 cups rolled oats
  • ?? - ½ cup brown sugar (depending on your desired sugar intake)
  • ½ cup powdered milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ?? cup chopped dried fruit or nuts (optional)

Once you??ve prepped your ingredients, blend (or pulse, if you??re using a food processor) the rolled oats until they start to break apart. Remove approximately two-thirds of the oats and blend the remaining oats until you achieve a fine powder. Finally, combine all your ingredients in a large bowl and store everything in an airtight container, or individual ziplock bags. These last up to 2 months.

To enjoy the fruits of your labor, combine ½ cup of your pre-made oatmeal mix with ½ - ¾ cup boiling water and stir well.
