This year has been a series of unfortunate events. While we have no control over travel limitations and circuit breaker measures in general, learning a new skill is well within our reach. If you need some help getting started, here??s a guide to point you in the right direction.

Put on your dancing shoes

You??ve probably bust a move in the shower, or done a happy dance when the food tastes good. So why hold back and tear up the dance floor only when you have liquid courage? If you??ve always wanted to try your hand at dancing, Legacy Dance Co. (LDC) is worth a visit.

Founded by 3 passionate individuals, LDC offers a variety of classes for those who are just starting out, mainly Intro, Beginner and Advance Beginner. With that in mind, rest assured that you??re in safe hands. These classes are priced from $16 (for a single lesson) to $130 (for 10 lessons) where you can learn more about popping, choreography, lyrical dance, and KPOP dances which are all the rage these days.

Strum some strings

If moving your feet isn??t exactly your cup of tea, how does learning to play a new instrument sound? One of the few music schools specializing in guitar and ukelele lessons, The Sixth String is home to qualified teachers who are dedicated to helping students via 1-1 or group classes.

In addition to guitar and ukelele, the music school offers drums, music theory and piano lessons which are tailored to students of different music backgrounds. Priced at $120 nett, basic lessons consist of 4 sessions that last 30 minutes each. But if you??d like to learn the guitar or ukelele, you??re in luck! From now till 25 September 2020, The Sixth String is offering interested parties above the age of 5 a free guitar/ukelele trial lesson!

Let your hands do the talking?

A picture speaks a thousand words. For those who prefer working at their own pace in a chill and cosy environment with one of the best choices of music playing in the background, there??s no better way to connect with your inner artist than art jamming itself. A new contender in the local art scene, Hueplay Studio is nestled in Kovan, a 7-minute walk from the MRT Station.

For $30 per pax, you??ll get to paint on either a tote bag or canvas for 2.5 hours. Fret not if you??re new to this, because guided sessions by the co-founder herself are available at no extra charge. P.S. shave $5 off per person when you go in a group of 4 or more on weekdays.

Get in touch with nature

A bouquet of flowers are guaranteed to brighten up the day of your loved one, but if you truly want to leave an impact, why not present them with something made with love?

If that??s what you seek, Floral Garage offers basic flower arrangement workshops at the price of $25 per session, which lasts for approximately 1 to 2 hours. Alternatively, you can attend a hand bouquet course at $390 if you??re up for something more professional, as you??ll receive a certificate at the end of the 6 or 12 sessions. Do note that all classes are currently on hold due to the ongoing outbreak.

Regardless of your choice of activity, we hope you enjoy the process and remember to stay safe!
